Four Month design Course

To outreach to the artisans of different corners of the state, design cell in SIDAC is setting up Regional Level Design Centres’ under Directorate of Handicrafts to provide design led short term courses in the format of integrated design development programmes for enabling them to develop new craft products suitable for contemporary market. Accordingly, it is proposed to start the programmes in two centres namely at Samablpur and Balasore.

Objective of the Programme:

The major objective of the programme will be to help the artisans understand design led approach so that they will be able to utilise design as a strategic tool for developing new craft products suitable for contemporary market.

Course Duration:

The duration of the course will be 4 months.

Medium of Learning and Classes:

The training will be imparted mainly in Odia . Classes will be held six days a week from 10a.m. to 5p.m. There will be no classes during Sundays and other Govt. holidays.

Evaluation of the learning and Certification:

At the end of each course, a jury will evaluate the knowledge & work done by the trainee during the entire course. Based on the evaluation of jury and on successful completion of the course the student will receive certificate from State Institute for Development of Arts and Crafts.

Syllabus:

The content of the course include Material and Skill Workshop, Elements of Forms & Free hand drawing, Color and Composition, Elements of Design & Aesthetics including inputs in Marketing & Production planning.
